Does your Homeschool program need some fun? Join us at The Science Center for our fun & educational outreach programs
We are featuring exciting and fun science outreach programs for community centers, schools, libraries, and clubs. Our programs emphasize age-appropriate hands-on activities, that usually last 20 minutes. Time can be adjusted based on different needs as well! Below we have some of our current program offerings.
Outreach Programs
While we discuss dinosaurs and how they lived, each student gets to make their very own dinosaur egg! Then the students get to pick what dinosaur they want to hatch from their egg! Students can take their eggs home, but make sure to let them dry before cracking them open.
Recommended for Grades Pre-k through 2nd. This is a hands-on program allowing participants to make their own recycled paper. It also allows participants to learn why recycling is always important! You also may ask for seeds to be added to make your paper plantable!
Recommended for Grades Pre-k through 4th. Watch a series of magic tricks, that can be explained by science! Choose between the Hovercraft or the Air Cannon for a unique show, that your guests will love!
Recommended for Grades Pre-k through 6th. Air is all around us. It influences our lives in many unexpected ways. This program (which is adaptable for large audiences) discusses the Bernoulli Effect and how it applies to flight, hovercrafts, and vortex phenomenon. A favorite amongst students as it is fast paced, highly engaging, and has a ton of student participation. Choose between the Air Cannon or Hovercraft for a unique show experience.
Recommended for Grades Pre-k through 6th. Kids love to get messy, so why not combine science with it! In this program participants create two different kinds of slime, and then compare the two together. This helps them learn about Non-Newtonian fluids!

The Science Center hosts a variety of educational programs for homeschool families on the second Wednesday of each month. The programs include fun and repeatable activities, educational presentations, as well as free play in the museum.

Additional Information on our Homeschool Program
Who: Children ages Pre-K and older!
What: A Homeschool program that is open to all families, not just those who choose to homeschool!
When: Our homeschool classes are held on the 2nd Wednesday of every month. We post a schedule of upcoming program dates & themes down below. Each homeschool program is split into two separate sessions. The first session begins at 10 a.m. and more for children ages Pre-K through 8 years old. The 2nd session begins at 11 a.m. and is more for children ages 8 and up. The different session age ranges depict how the material will be presented. If you believe your child would do better in a different session or can’t attend that time, let us know! We will work it out so that your child gets the fun and education they deserve!
Where: Our classes are held in The Science Center’s on-site classroom.
Registration: Advanced registration with payment is required on a first come first serve basis. The registration deadline is the day before the class at 5 p.m. Also, we will no longer be able to accept late registration. Limited spots are available! Call in advance to secure your spot!
